Twenty-four whimsical holiday cards featuring hand-drawn Santas from an American design titan
Legendary designer Paul Rand (1914–1996) is perhaps best known for his minimalist logos for companies such as IBM, UPS, and ABC. But he had a more whimsical side, as demonstrated in this collection of homemade Christmas cards. Some expressively painted, some collaged onto artboard, and others printed with die-cuts and folds, these creations show Santa cheerfully taking a snowball to the face, letting carolers read music off his beard, and lighting up like a Christmas tree in an X-ray booth—all in Rand’s playful yet iconic style. Reproduced in print for the first time, each of the dozen notecards appears twice, printed on textured paper and presented with envelopes in a keepsake box.
