Over eight consecutive Wednesdays (October 15, 22, 29; November 5, 12, 19; and December 3 & 10), students will “rebrand” a restaurant of their choice guided by 3 veterans of the restaurant branding world.

Restaurant dining is a rich, sensory experience, and creating restaurant brands provides designers with an opportunity to draw from diverse inspiration — travel, memories, poetry, and storytelling, printed ephemera, vernacular signage, music, and popular culture to name a few.

We will review the best examples of contemporary restaurant/food brand design along with the the unique challenges and rewards they present. Sharing best practices and approaches of designing for the food industry, we will review your progress each week in a critique/class discussion format. You will conduct research, create narrative concept inspiration boards, develop a transformation strategy and let these guide your design process. By the end of the 8-week session, you will have developed an impressive portfolio piece: a full restaurant concept for your poke shack or fine dining establishment (and everything in between).
