Clear as day: the story of Clearview

Learn the saga of Clearview, a lettering system that even someone with poor eyesight can still decipher while whizzing by at 70 mph through the rain, snow, sleet, fog, darkness, glare, and whatever else Mother Nature might throw at you on the freeway. James Montalbano worked with his partner David Meeker to develop this successful alternative to Highway Gothic that has been adopted by many states and countries around the world who have sought to reduce traffic fatalities through improved signage. Implementing Clearview sounds like a no-brainer, but Montalbano and Meeker's system has had its share of challenges, as states navigated the often opaque US DOT bureaucracy and regulatory agencies involved.
